Privacy Policy

RepairBench ("we", "our", or "the app") is an iOS application for luthiers and instrument repair professionals. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

1. Data We Collect

We collect only the data necessary to provide repair management functionality:

• Account information ... your name and email address, provided through Sign in with Apple.
• Shop profile ... shop name, phone number, address, logo, tax settings, and shop type. You provide these voluntarily in Settings.
• Repair data ... instrument details, repair notes, status, costs, line items, and dates you enter when creating or editing repairs.
• Customer records ... customer names and optional contact details (email, phone, address) you enter when managing customers.
• Photos ... images you attach to repairs and progress updates, selected from your device's photo library.
• Invoices ... line items, totals, tax calculations, and payment status you enter when creating invoices.
• Subscription data ... purchase transaction identifiers managed by Apple's StoreKit for subscription verification.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide the core repair tracking, invoicing, and reporting features.
• To authenticate your account via Sign in with Apple.
• To generate PDF invoices and progress reports you choose to share.
• To send local on-device notifications for due-date reminders (with your permission).
• To verify your subscription status.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted in the northamerica-northeast1 (Montréal, Canada) region. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled through Firebase Authentication with Sign in with Apple ... we never see or store your Apple ID password.

Firebase App Check is enabled to prevent unauthorised access to our backend services.

4. Third-Party Services

The app uses the following third-party services:

• Firebase Authentication ... account sign-in (Google/Apple infrastructure).
• Cloud Firestore ... cloud database for your business data.
• Firebase Storage ... cloud storage for repair photos.
• Apple StoreKit ... subscription purchase and verification (managed entirely by Apple).

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking services. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

5. Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect location data.
• We do not use analytics or behavioural tracking.
• We do not display ads or share data with ad networks.
• We do not access your contacts, calendar, or browsing history.
• We do not sell your data to anyone.

6. Notifications

The app may request permission to send local notifications for repair due-date reminders. These notifications are generated and scheduled entirely on your device ... no data is sent to external servers. You can enable or disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings.

7. Photos

When you attach photos to repairs or progress updates, the app accesses your photo library through the iOS system photo picker. Photos are compressed (max 1200px wide, JPEG quality 0.7) before being uploaded to Firebase Storage. Photos are stored until you delete them from a repair or delete the repair itself.

8. Data Retention

Your data is retained in Firebase for as long as your account is active. PDF files generated for sharing are stored temporarily on your device and are cleaned up automatically by iOS.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data at any time through the app.
• Edit or delete your repairs, customers, invoices, and profile information within the app.
• Request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us.

10. Children's Privacy

RepairBench is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
